commerce restaurant in the west village is everything warm and cozy about winter. eating brunch there is like being hosted for a lazy sunday morning by your ridiculously wealthy best friends who know how to do casual just perfectly. baked eggs with spinach and truffles…deliciously decadent and scrupulously homey too.

Go West Young Lady
And Eat at Yerba Buena Perry

Yerba Buena Perry
1 perry st @ greenwich ave
west village
212-620-0808

we love the original yerba buena on avenida a, and now are even more in love with their new west village digs. with great reviews from the picky eaters at the new york times, new york magazine and the new yorker, yerba buena perry fuses the fresh flavors of cuba, peru, mexico, chile and argentina—and the results are beyond yum (tuna belly ceviche taquitos, manchego and fig empanadas, and dulce de leche crepes, yes please!). the cocktails are just as legendary, with the pisco mojito and mezcal maid being two must-trys. dinner is always a hit and the soon-to-open brunch is bound to be hot too. see you there!

All About Yuca
Go Low-Key at Yuca Bar

Yuca Bar
111 avenida a @ 7th st
east village
212-982-9533

in a city overrun with overpriced, super-slick supposed tapas lounges, it’s nice to discover a place where you can really kick back, have fun and eat good food. one of the most unpretentious, funkiest latin spots in the city, yuca bar in the heart of the east village, serves eclectic pan-latin dishes and delicious mojitos, capipirinhas and sangrias sold not only by the glass but also by the pitcher. so now it’s easy to hit the town without totally breaking the bank. we are already regulars at happy hour and brunch and we hear that the late night bar scene is bumpin’ too.

That’s Amore (NJ-Style)
Get Great Grub at Grissini

Grissini Restaurant
484 sylvan avenue
englewood cliffs, nj 07632
201-568-3535
reservations recommended,
but not required.

with all the amazing restaurants in new york, it can be hard to leave your comfort zone and travel further afield for the promise of a delicious dinner. but on a recent jaunt to englewood cliffs, nj, we realized that sometimes, going a little off the beaten path can reap great rewards—in the form of pomodoro e mozzarella di bufalo (imported buffalo mozzarella served with jersey tomatoes) and taglierini neri al granchio (homemade black squid ink taglierini pasta tossed with dungeness crab meat in a delicate brandy sauce). grissini gives west village stalwart il mulino a serious run for its money. with an amazing wine list and an updated classic italian menu, it’s well worth the trip over the jorge washington.
